Can you help me with a HP Pavilion DM4 battery problem?

Recently my friend’s laptop began to show a message at BIOS startup. The message is like this:
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery is very low. For optimal performance this battery need to be replaced.

I was wondering if this is for the CMOS battery to be replaced or for the normal battery of the laptop. This laptop’s battery used to hold for 3-4 hours, and then suddenly got this problem and now it can hold at max 30 mins.

I would like also an opinion why could this happen!
Thanks in advance,
Erlis

It sounds like you have a bad main battery. The fact that it started suddenly would point to failure of the battery's internal circuitry. Try a new battery pack.

there should be a code like 601(Primary (internal) Battery) or 602 ( Secondary (external) Battery) see the below link

you can check it with another computer , i think this is may be bad use , using the computer plugged in the ac with battery full for long times , or may be the battery was used before buying it
