How can I upgrade my Samsung Galaxy Y?

  • Model number: GT-S5360
  • Android version: 2.3.6
  • Baseband version: S5360XXKK5
  • Kernel version: 2.6.35.7
  • root@DELL130 #1
  • Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXKK6

I have tried with different ROM designers. One installed, but it could not work properly once I have installed. It doesn’t take the IMEI number or it fails to detect mobile operator or the network does not detect.

Please help to upgrade my mobile.

The issue of missing or generic IMEI numbers after flashing custom ROMS is due to the kernel not having compatibility with the newer RAMDisk. The RIL files need to be replaced/fixed in order to correct the issue; the files for your IMEI number are not corrupt or missing, they should be fine. Try the RIL fix found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459280. A little more information, though this thread is about the Hyperion 8 ROM for the Galaxy Yand is mentioned under "Older Users", can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457022.

You really should backup your EFS partition/folders as the EFS has your phone's IMEI information. There are plenty of tools that can create a backup for you, and you can save these important files to a different safe location. http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-backup-and-restore-efs-data-imei-on-samsung-galaxy-devices-did-you-do-it/ and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211798.

When installing ROMs you should always make sure to chose one for your region. While other region ROMs might work they usually don't support provider network updates which may result in you not being able to get on the network.

You should be able to find the latest regional ROM at the following link
