How can I restore photos on my iPhone which were lost in a “restore” operation?

Hi,
I just got an iPhone 6 and lost some pictures due to doing a “restore”.Is it possible to retrieve data in any way? I attempted to run data recovery software but the Mac won’t recognize the phone in a way that would allow me to conduct a scan.

The pictures are not incredibly important, but are irreplaceable. I’m reading that recovery after a restore isn’t possible, but I feel like if Mac could be allowed to see the iPhone as an ordinary removable device this would be possible. I’ve downloaded programs like Macgo Mac iPhone data recovery but I don’t know how I could use them in conjunction with a data recovery program. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys!

If you have backup for your iPhone/ iPad/ iPod touch, you can retrieve them from backup file, get the guide from apple http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

In terms of recovery software, you could try Recuva for Mac (http://www.recuvaformac.com/). It's good software.

HOWEVER, there is very little likelihood of recovering your data regardless of the tools you use. Data recovery tools rely on the fact that the data is still on the disc/flash memory, and that it is only the file-system information (file name, folder info, allocation tables etc) which were erased. The tools look for that data and extract it, creating filenames etc if necessary. In your case, the restore operation _overwrote_ the iPhone's storage memory, so much, if not all the data is no longer there, and the recovery tools will have little to work with.

Still, worth a try, I suppose!
