Can I share digital comic downloads that I purchased legally?

Is it possible to share digital downloads of comics (Marvel, DC etc) across computers/tablets? I know it is possible to share books via Amazon and the like, but do digital comic sellers allow issues to be shared across accounts/users/machines?

Not really interested in breaking any laws as such, but would like to know if such a thing is possible as it is with physical copies.

Thanks in advance.

X-Comics (which is one of the more popular readers, on IOS at least) certainly lets you view purchases on other devices - though only tied to a single account (so person, or at most a household).

Given what you want, I think no is likely to be the answer - it isn't in these companies interest to allow you to share a comic with your friends. Sadly the pricing doesn't reflect this limitation in my experience (more often than not the digital copies are the same or more than physical copies) - I imagine over time paper copies will just die out and then everyone gets to pay for exactly what they read :) Whether this is a good or bad thing is a more in depth discussion!

elaborate on share , if you mean to distribute a copy to a friend no. If you mean to let your friend borough your e-reader device so he can read the text without copying it to his own personal device yes sure. That would be akin to loaning out a book. If you mean to make multiple copies for yourself on several digial devices you personaly own, that would probably depends on what you agreed to in the terms of use where you got the copy originaly.

NO. it will still violate the copyright law as others can view it for free.

You can make duplicates for your own private use, but you certainly can't 'lend' it to your friend with the current copyright system. By sharing, you're making unauthorized duplicates.

You'd need to check with the publishers, since it's their terms and conditions. Two points:

    1. Copyright law basically forbids making ANY copies of copyright material without the copyright-owner's explicit permission.
    2. In the US there's a "fair use" exception, which allows you to make copies for study, commentary etc, but this clause is not universal.

In other words, in the US you may be allowed to "share" with other devices belonging to you, as Chris suggests, but this would not necessarily be the case in other countries. As for sharing with others, it's back to point 1!

Can I share the digital comics with my friends?
    A. Digital comics must never be re-transmitted over the internet or between devices. This means files should never be attached to emails, copied to memory sticks, listed on a file sharing (P2P) networks, or offered as a download from a website, blog or portal.

i guess depends from where you got your copies so first read their faq. If you downloaded the comic file on your pc, i guess you can read it on your devices.

I would assume you're fine with creating multiple copies for all your devices -- reading the same file on a tablet and your PC, for example. However, you probably aren't allowed to distribute it to other people. Check with whoever you bought it from to be sure.
