Can I recover data from my MicroSD card if my phone says it’s damaged?
Question by Melissa Matkovi? /

When I go to my photo album or go to take a photo using my HTC Sense it says I have to put the SD card in, but it’s already in. Then it comes up with a message saying that my SD card is damaged.

How can I recover and then restore the data?

Hello, have you tried restarting your phone when it tells you your memory card is damaged? Android based phones have been known to report a damage memory card. I used to have an older model that would tell me from time to time that memory card was damaged. Then, I would proceed to restart phone and card would be ok. You can also try unmounting the card and then mount it back to see if message goes away.

With regards to recovering data, yes it is possible depending on what the damage is. If the damage is extreme, I am afraid you would need the services of a recovery professional. Most times if damage is minimal you can try free software such as Recuva to recover it. Here are some links for recovery software:

    Recuva:

    Pandora:

As others suggest, plug the card into a card reader on a PC, and try Recuva (from http://www.piriform.com) or Pandora Recovery (from http://www.pandorarecovery.com) to recover the files to the PC’s hard disc. Then format your disc and try it again on the phone.

see if it is rightly inserted…. If all is ok in your phone, bring that out to a pc and try to connect it with a card reader. If it works in your pc, its all ok. Create a back up to ur pc and format it…. And if it doesnot work on pc, then I thing the FAT file system is affected, you’ll have no other way to go… But there is 90% chance, you can get it detected by your pc. If it is damaged, you’ll not be able to copy your data to ur pc (pc will get hanged)… Chk your lck…
