Can I hook my cable box to my laptop?

I would like to watch TV on my laptop, I think that Windows Media has a tv tuner in it, can I use this to hook up my cable box to my laptop?

    As others have said, the main thing is you need a "TV capture card" or equivalent. There are a few laptops that have the feature built in, but not many. However, you can get a USB-based converter and use it.     Check out what output options your cable box has, and if they are present on your computer, connect it to that port. Generally, a computer has output pins, not input pins. Thus we need a tv tuner, which for a laptop must be with a USb interface to watch cable box output.

    Buy a usb tv tuner card they are cheap these days

    ,the HDMI port on your laptop is an HDMI out, not an HDMI in unless otherwise noted.
