The best solution is to buy from reputed website Like Amazon, reputed sellers on Ebay & others. Always compare prices as some times dirth cheap prices are generally for a fake product except pricing errors & promotions. Also see the return policy of the website. You will be generally safe with Big etailers even if you received a fake product, just ping on Facebook & twitter and your product will be picked up.

    Hope that helps

The same as in any shop, such as those in the High Street. You need to look at:
    1. The reputation of the vendor
    2. Reviews of the item in the shop (e.g. on Amazon)
    2. Price (if it's too cheap to be genuine, it's either a fake or stolen)
    3. When you receive the item, check it carefully for any signs that it might not be genuine. If it has authenticity marks (e.g. holograms, serial numbers) and you are suspicious, check with the manufacturer.
I'm not familiar with consumer laws in India, but in the UK you can return items within 7 days without having to explain yourself, so as long as the shop is a real one (and that is something you're advised to check before buying), the risk of getting a fake and not being able to return it is low.

Thanks. In India , there is userfriendly return policy on almost all common e-commerce portals like amazon.in , ebay.in , flipkart , infibeam.........

Please tell , how to know if the seller on , say amazon.in has a real shop or is only online seller

In Amazon, you could look at the "shop front" which describes shop and will probably provide a link to their own online store, if they have one, and perhaps even provide an address. Beyond that, you would need to do some detective work (i.e. googling the shop name).

Thanks. Shop front means the shop name active-link?

Yes. When you click on it you get some information about the shop, and at the top, "Detailed Seller Information". Between them, the pages tell you a fair bit about the seller.

It depends what the crazy deal is... If a manufacturer is trying to get rid of goods (for example, because a new line is about to be announced) then prices will drop. However, you should be confident about the vendor before buying something that looks like such a good deal.
