Can a person join Google Plus hangout using a non-gmail account? Or is a Gmail account mandatory for this?

Thanks

Use Chatzy if gtalk is a little annoying. I think that you can invite non-gmail members, but I'm not sure, but for just a room for chatting, chatzy seems better.

You can open a Gmail account to use Google Plus but you dont need to use the Gmail mail account for anything else. Basically if you open an email account then the only people that get the email address are the one's you give it to. If you do not give out that address then no-one will mail you there.

i think it is important to have a gmail account or a google plus account for the profile then adding a non gmail email to use it for hangouts?.
