Is there any way to calculate data transferred using an internet connection?

I use a mobile internet plan that allows me 500 MB of free data transfer (Download/Upload).

I want some way to track my usage so that I can avoid crossing the limit and pay extra. So if anyone knows of any way to do this or any software that can do the trick and tell me how much data I have used, please help! I am currently running Vista Basic.

Thanks in advance!

Your ISP should include software that tracks it for you. I have mobile internet on my phone and when I tether it to my laptop, my phone keeps a record of it.

Not all IPSs have this feature.

Try Bandwidth Meter Pro. This can give you alert when you reach certain limit or can even send you an email. This one has lot of other features as well
