I recently bought a MacBook Pro.Using bootcamp I installed Windows 7. When using Windows there is only read permission for Mac HDD so I installed Paragon HFS. After installing and booting I can no longer run Mac OS X, instead it shows a “you need to format the disk” error.

What is the solution for this?

I'm not entirely sure I understand the status of your system.

I assume the error message you posted is reported by Windows when trying to access the Mac OS X partition, right?

What does Mac OS X do when you try to boot? Does it get stuck at the gray screen or does it show you some symbolic e.g. circle with a slash?

First I would try HFS Explorer

If you can read the contents of the Mac hard drive or partition using it the problem is with Paragon HFS

        1. boot into safe mode (by pressing F8 before Windows logo)
        2. remove (uninstall) Paragon HFS
        3. restart and boot normally
        4. re-download and install the latest Paragon HFS

Actually, there are quite a lot of similar problems reported with Paragon HFS ever since 2011 and a lot of people seem to switch to MacDrive ~ so maybe that's an option for you.

I just ran into this problem and found your question. I couldn't uninstall it from Windows because Windows would crash before it got half-way through. From safe mode, I deleted the following files to prevent HFS+ from loading:

    c:\windows\system32\drivers\hfs*.sys
I then rebooted into normal mode, uninstalled the program, and found success again.

I'm never touching anything by Paragon again. Sheesh, that was a close call.

is it the latest version of Paragon HFS, if not perhaps there is some kid of incompatibility with Windows 7
