Besides the webcam, can all digital cameras be used as a webcam? I have an older Polaroid that does work nicely, and I wondered if other digital cameras could work as well.
Running Linux Mint 13 and Google Hangout. Polaroid is picked up. But not when I’m running Windows XP.
Any input?

also perhaps your old polaroid is not suitable for webcam because of resolution, audio quality…

November 7, 2012As far as I know, no all digital cameras can be used as a webcam. So if you want one that can do the job, check the product manual before you buy!

no. most people I have helped with this have headsets and just need the webcam to shoot video for services like skype or google hangouts. check the ehow link above or just do a quick google of your specific camera and you should find it… not all cameras have this capability though…

November 8, 2012most digital cameras work as webcams. if you are using windows xp, try getting the necessary software to work the camera as a webcam. or else it won’t recognize as a webcam!
