July 20, 2012Advantages of it can be to find friends or people if you move to a new neighborhood and you want to get to know people in the area, this could prove very helpful.
But on the other hand, disadvantages could be that you might be spammed with a lot of requests by unknown people, specially in cases of girls when stalkers start getting desperate and adding every girl they see.
Regarding the disadvantages , the privacy issue simply depend on using or not using it, while stalking can be avoided
by restricting the status to lists,friends,friends of friends or public according to one’s choice
Looking at the advantages or good uses , it would be useful in a class or meeting or new neighbourhood or in a public place to
meet like minded people and an easy way to exchange virtual card for future communication
If you may be knowing , even facebook places had met with negative reviews – terming it as legal hassle but many people use
fb places checkins
Another advantage would be to know if friends are at what distance

Would the find friends nearby work through mobile service provider tower? or GPS would be essential for it to work?

If you may have noticed the counteracting of both the disadvantages ( stalking and getting stalked ) were allready enunciated
