How can I access data on an external drive after a virus turned folders into .LNK files?

Davie asks:

Some of the folders on my external drive changed into .lnk files, pointing to “puibuu.src”. The memory details of my drive say that all data is still present on it, but I can’t access it.

For example the “photo” folder in my drive is now a shortcut to “puibuu.src”

What do I do to recover my data? Thanks.

you can also scan your hard drive with clamwin portable antivirus.

Hello, this question has been asked many times in the past.  You could try fixing the association like suggested before, but before you do that make sure to scan your drive for viruses/malware.  You can use superantispyware and malwarebytes for that.
